So I liked it. I just don't love it. And I think it's because Joss is still in love with the exact same type of characters, and keeps putting them in everything he does. It just doesn't feel new. Firefly at least felt like he swapped people around, and the actors in Dollhouse (specifically Enver Gjokaj, and WHY isn't that guy working all the damn time? He has seriously amazing range.) made that feel like something new - and the premise was really interesting, too.

=/ I was all excited to maybe add it to the recaps at HDJM, but I'm not in love with it, and it's a LOT of work to recap a show, which is why I have that whole rule about "only if you love it" for the writers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to keep watching because it's really entertaining - I mean, the man isn't capable of writing a show I won't enjoy - it's just not the Second Coming of Whedonverse.

I'm hungry, flist. I want all the grilled cheeses that exist. ALL OF THEM.

My review said pretty much the exact same thing.

Great minds.

Executive producers have their tics and if you get tired of them, it can get miserable (see me and anything Moffat's working on).

I hit my Whedon limit at about Firefly (I couldn't get through Dollhouse), so I'm probably going to give this a pass.

(By contrast, I'm still not sick of Bryan Fuller shows, but I am rather fond of aggressive quirkiness.)

Miserable is overstating it but I didn't get around to sleeping last night and I can't word anymore.

Joss used to be the innovator, though. He's just recycling his personal character file, I feel, and putting them in a new setting. I'm still a fan of his types of characters, but I want it to feel like there are some new ideas there, too. *shrug*

Haven't watched it yet, but I'll still give S.H.I.E.L.D. a shot.

Toasted ham and cheese here with a massaged kale and mango salad on the side. Buttery, cheesy, hammy goodness for the win.

I did enjoy it, I was just hoping to be fannish about it, you know? =/

MMMMMMMMMMMM TO ALL OF YOUR FOOD CHOICES. *grabby hands*

Ugh, L. I wanted to love it, but I ... I can't even say I liked it? I didn't DISlike it. But it's a total meh and if it wasn't Whedon I wouldn't even bother watching ep 2. But it is, so I will, but I have re-set my expectations accordingly, which is just so very disappointing. I WANTED TO LOVE THIS SHOW WHEDON WHY WON'T YOU LET ME LOVE YOUR STUFF ANYMORE GODAMMIT??

I was happy with the hour I spent in front of that show instead of Duck Dynasty with the Mr. and The Boy in the other room? So there's that? But I wanted to LOVE IT, YES, JUST AS YOU SAID.

I just like his stuff now, I'm not slavish/slobbering/grabby hands over his things anymore and that makes me SAD.

Aside from the Buffy verse I was never that fannish over his other stuff. I like Firefly a lot and Dollhouse became great in the second season, but I never realy felt to need to discuss it or seek out more than what I was given.

However, this was enjoyable if derivative so I'll keep watching. Plus it took Dollhouse quite a while to become watchable and Buffy didn't become completely awesome until mid second season.

I mostly agree, although I could have probably been fannish about FF had it continued. I did love Mal & River. And Mal/River bc uh, yeah. Dollhouse I loathed with the fiery passion of 10,000 suns but at least it made me feel SOMETHING. This is just. Meh.

There were problems with it, but I think overall I loved it. Maybe it's my love for snarky, sassy, sarcastic Phil Coulson that did it (which I got plenty of in the pilot.)

So I liked it. I just don't love it.

This. I thought they set up a lot of interesting things, so I could see the potential, but it could just as easily have peaked already. I'll keep watching. For now.

Fran Kranz was the Dollhouse actor that made the show for me. Not that Enver Gjokaj wasn't both easy on the eyes and versatile to boot, but Kranz made me care for Topher, made me believe he achieved a moral code. That's amazing.

I have such a crush on Phil Coulson, that I will watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. even if I don't particularly care for the others much. Although Ming-Na looks like she's going to be BADASS!

::stuffs grilled cheese in mouth:: No. You cannot have mine. ::gollum::

S.H.I.E.L.D

I loved it. Yeah, it has some rough edges. But...COULSON! And a cutie-patootie Scot! Just sit back and adore the snappy dialog. ::basks::

I am glad it wasn't just me. I watched it and I liked it well enough, but I did not love it. And I may have liked it only because it's Whedon and I know what he's capable of. I'm not sure I would have sat through it otherwise. I will probably watch the next one.
