• Thanks to everyone for your condolences on my last post. I've been happy to see that on FB everyone who knew my friend has been moved past discussing his addictions and are simply listing all of the great stories and good times. As it should be! (The best one I've seen was on I had forgotten about: Steve went to his cousin's wedding dressed in a yellow suit with spats and everything and kept saying to people, "You come to me on my daughter's wedding..." Hahahaha. Seriously, this guy was so fun and funny.)


• The Walking Dead is back!! Oooh, this is going to be a dark season. My recap is up and I would LOVE to talk to you. (And I would love to know if you're still liking the recaps - this ep was a hard one because it's mostly set up.)


• Speaking of recaps, the next episode of the Buffy Rewatch will be up later this week, and tomorrow will be Sleepy Hollow! And our SPN recaps have absolutely broken website records. 1300 likes on the season opener. THIRTEEN HUNDRED. Amazing!


• Don't forget that they are spoiler-free, fan-love-centric, happy places to talk about your show. That doesn't mean you can't have real concrit to give, we just don't want you coming from a place of dislike. I mean, what's the point?


• It's rainy here - we very much need the rain, too. Roasted veggies are on deck for dinner.


• I'm feeling very disconnected from everything, mostly because I've been disconnecting myself from everything. IDK, transitioning into...who knows. Every day I find that more people are taking me off their feeds, which is absolutely their right. It just reminds me that I'm not the fun "ha ha" space I think people expect of me and that gives me a type of performance anxiety. Meh.

I think I need some chocolate. Good for meh moods and restoring yourself after Dementors, right?

What are the roasted veggies you're having tonight? I've been roasting things the past weeks to have as sides but also snacks. Discovery: Brussels sprouts are OM NOM NOM as snacks!

Mmmm, we could make biscotti! (Or I would watch YOU make biscotti and bring YOU treats!) And sugar cookies, and bread, and pretzel rolls and hmm...brownies? I WANT ALL THE CARBS.

Tonight we are having: butternut squash, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, carrots and parsnips tossed in some olive oil, smashed garlic cloves and thyme from the garden. <3

If my children weren't AWFUL I would have roasted Brussels sprouts, too, because they are SO FREAKING GOOD.

I never had Brussels sprouts until after college, and I was like, WHO HAS BEEN KEEPING THIS DELICIOUSNESS FROM ME? And even then, I just had boiled ones (I don't know what people are thinking with boiling some veggies, honestly). So when I had the roasted sort, it was a revelation all over again.

*looks stern at your kids* No Brussels sprouts, no awesome bakery products from Cuisine de Laura!

I have a recipe on here somewhere on my RECIPES tag. It's mostly about boiling the rolls in a pot of water with baking soda in it, then pressing sea salt into the tops (and making an X at the top) before baking them off at a high temp. Mmmmmmmm!!

Why don't people love thyme? Or rosemary? I LOVE THEM BOTH. Mmmm, rosemary as skewers for veggies is one of my favorite things! Like sweet potato chunks, nom nom nom.

Hahaha, I'm the same re: Brussels sprouts - my mother didn't like them, so we never ate them. And WOW BUDDY are they delish! I, too, do not understand the need to boil veggies. Roast! Always roast if it's an option!

Like roasted corn! Or zucchini! Or tomatoes! Or- :D

YAY, I will check out your recipe! Because I've seen ones for soft-pretzels (though not rolls) that use lye, and while that may be authentic and all, NO. I would much rather use the baking powder solution like you mentioned above; I didn't realize you could do that!

Chocolate can cure almost anything! The exceptions are: gangrene, rampant flatulence, and being a member of the Tea Party. EAT UP.

Also, chocolate was made to go with red wine. It's like the universe is saying, won't you have a glass or three? DELICIOUS.

I am so sad that I have not yet had time to watch The Walking Dead. But when I do, I will be all over your recap, just like x on y (pick some random amusing expression.)

So this season is going to be dark? Darn. I was enjoying the giggle fest of last season. 8-) (I'm actually a little worried by your statement. Last season we had a 12 year old murder his own mother. I'm not sure what dark means in relation to that.)

Oh my gosh, The Walking Dead was TAILOR MADE FOR ME. Well, not really, but I like to think it was. It's sooooooooooo dark. SO DARK AND NO PUNCHES PULLED. Which is just how I like my drama. :D

I think we're going to see how much darker 12 year olds can get. And I think this is when we see Rick get to his lowest. YEAH. I DON'T THINK RICK HAS HIT ROCK BOTTOM. O_O
