Hello! I'm coming out of my self-imposed blackout because I'm just about finished with my deadlines and feel like I can breathe again. WHEW.

1. WALKING DEAD. Holy darkness. I know a lot of people have stopped watching, which is baffling to me. To each his own, I know, but the character arcs are finally paying off in a huge way. This is a long con type show, not simple action/adventure. (But yeah, filled with some unlikeable people, etc.)

2. I wrote "The End" on that massive AoGG/TW fic this weekend. OMG, apparently I only write novel-length fiction now? It's good practice, that's for sure. I still have edits/tweaks to do before I post. I wanted to start posting today, but it's a school holiday and I think I might need to murder my children. But I'll begin posting right after, promise! :D

3. I'm coming to terms with the way people are consuming media/behaving fannishly, and it is slowly elbowing me out. That's just the way it is, and I'm learning to accept that the way I view/want to talk about shows isn't the way most people do, so I may stop recapping. It's just a lot of work not to have interaction. (And thank you to the three of you who continue to talk to me! I know you do it out of loyalty, and I appreciate it.) I'm not shutting down HDJM or anything drastic like that, our Supernatural posts get almost 2,000 likes (WOW, way to go, Vinnie!) and Hannibal is a juggernaut. Sleepy Hollow picked up steam the more people realized we were recapping them, and I'm very happy for their dedicated followers. Just...I have such a crazy life and it's a lot to put into something that goes nowhere. I'm going to see Game of Thrones through this season, and won't make any decisions until after that, but basically I'm saying that I get that I'm not that interesting to read anymore.

(This is NOT a plea for you to tell me otherwise. This is navel gazing and acceptance. It's healthy!)

4. Speaking of healthy, I need lunch. I need a big ol' sandwich hot from the Panini maker. MMMM, GOAT CHEESE HERE I COME. :D

I don't think you are uninteresting to read (as if!). Sadly, I am so far behind on everything, that I don't get to read/do anything on a timely basis at the moment.

But I think the real issue is that many people have decamped for Twitter/Tumblr, lands of no interaction/feedback at all and that's what people seem to be moving toward. I can't stand it myself. I like to talk to people.

Well, thank you, but the stats at HDJM don't lie. Sometimes it's good to reevaluate oneself, which is what I'm trying to do, you know? It's all good.

I'm on both Twitter and Tumblr, and it's true that a lot of fannishness is there, but they're usually based off discussions happening in more static locations, weaving in and out. Which is awesome! (And what is happening with, say, our Hannibal recaps. Those are HUGE when the show is airing, and it's for good reason: Sam is hilarious and engaging.)

I'm just missing that magic ingredient to replicate that for myself. I'll either find it or I won't, but it's good to know that I'll be okay with the end result, whichever it turns out to be.

I think you're very interesting to read! But I do agree with you that there's a distinct lack of people having conversations in fandom these days, at least not measured, thought out ones like I used to see tons of on mailing lists and LJ, and I, too, feel like I'm not the right kind of fan for fandom anymore. Or at least how I want to interact won't get me the responses I want in return.

So I say you should only do things that you love, and if you're not loving recapping because you're not getting the responses you live for then don't recap. :)

I've talked to you about our Hannibal recaps (And SPN gets the same reaction, too) and how popular they are, both on the site and on places like Tumblr. Which is FANTASTIC. People have meta, theorize, etc., link back, click over, quote, all of that good fannish interaction that you and I love so much. I'm just not hitting it for whatever reason. Or maybe I'm fannish about things that others aren't, which is entirely possible.

I'm just trying to be reasonable about it all and not let it offend me, or anything. And I love you. <3

I have no way of gauging what hits people fannishly and what doesn't. I'm glad that HDJM has some powerhouse recaps going, and I wish one of yours was catching that kind of momentum, too. Different shows bring different energies and different people.

I love you! Be reasonable! Figure out how much of your time you want to put into something and how fulfilling it is to you, and go from there. :)

It's the same for me, and that's why I would miss your recaps if you stopped doing them. However, I get that it must be a huge time and energy drain to do them, and if you're not getting much back I understand why you would think about stopping.

That being said, when you were doing Hoarders reviews, I was reading those regularly. I don't know if the show is still on break or if it got canceled or what but I haven't noticed any new episodes (I'm also working and in school, so you know, sleep is a Thing, too), or I'd be coming over to read your thoughts about that.

Lots of my friends Don't Do Zombies, so I totally get that! NO SELF-INDUCED NIGHTMARES, THAT'S A GOOD POLICY.

Hoarders has been canceled, which is so sad to me, because it did real good. I *still* get comments from people who can't let certain stories go, who want to know about the hoarder. Matt is working on something Top Secret, so I have my fingers crossed for him. (And for those of us who loved the show!)

Okay, I have thoughts on this as I'm a rabid fan of TWD.

1. I haven't read your recap yet because I just watched the episode yesterday.

2. I always read your recaps and enjoy them, but barely comment because thinking about the show too much makes me tired. LOL! But true!

3. I can see why TWD fandom isn't an easy row to hoe. This isn't a fun show. I accept that anyone can die at any time (except maybe Daryl - can you imagine what fandom would do if he did??) and set my expectations accordingly. There isn't any ship fulfillment except Glenn and Maggie, which consists of them weeping as they figure out if the other one is dead yet. Good lord. It's deliciously grim, which may not make people want to gather to excitedly chat about it. This is only a guess.

4. The Talking Dead may satisfy a lot of people's need to discuss the episodes. This is only a guess.

PS Did you see the actresses who play Michone and Maggie on The Talking Dead? Maggie was SO tongue-tied and Michone recited her university thesis. Hee!

PPS Congrats on your newest fic. I desperately want to watch Teen Wolf now so I can read it, because you know I love that Anne girl!

THE SHOW IS EXHAUSTING. I think we've hit on the problem!! :D

OMG, if Daryl died, the fandom would retreat en masse! (ME INCLUDED.) People really ship Daryl and Carol, though, which is great and kind of interesting to me in that I don't really see either of them as sexual. I'm all over their bro-ship.

OOOOOOOOOH, TALKING DEAD IS A GREAT POINT. Really. Huh.

re: PS: I did!! And I had the same reaction as you, ha! (And the actress who plays Tara was on this week, and no one really cares about her, and she had LOADS to say. Hahaha.)

re: PPS: YOU SHOULD WATCH FOR THE ACTORS. Holy smokes, they have turned it to 11 this back half of the season, one actor in particular. I can't look away. Bonus: I re-read all the Anne books to get the lingo in my head, which is always a great way to pass the time. :D

It's really hard to write into a void. Fandom is so spread out these days. Back In The Day the Buffy fandom was concentrated in a few quality archives and discussion places, we all shared the good stuff and cross-linked, and it was easy to catch the content and stay up to date.

I haven't been captured by another fandom like I was with Buffy, but I imagine now the community is so broad and so diffuse that there would be these little dead-end niches just everywhere.

But I'm absolutely certain that your writing is as witty and deep as ever, and I'd first be checking the appeal of the show.
