1. I started recapping The Walking Dead again after getting a few nice messages from people *cough*whohadnevercommentedlinkedlikedsharedatthesitebeforeandwereupsetthattheirfreewordsweren'tthereanymore*cough* Guys: no one likes writing into a vacuum. (Also, the stats don't lie and readership dropped WAY down. But now that the season is almost over, it's picking up again. Hmm.) ANYWAY. Last night's ep THE GROVE is right here, and I wrote the previous 3 eps into one condensed post here.

2. Please, if you read people's recaps (esp. on our site), recaps like the awesome ones for Sleepy Hollow, SPN and Hannibal (for starters) and you ENJOY them, go to the trouble of clicking "Like." Or G+ (lol, is anyone using that?) Or sharing on Twitter or Tumblr. Or comment! Those girls spend HOURS writing for bupkis. Other websites are run by corporations that are able to pay their writers, so at least they're getting that compensation. Remember that we contribute to HDJM simply because we love fandom and want to share a happy/fan-based space with YOU. <3

3. I spent the weekend reading a MASSIVE fanfic that I kept hoping would start making sense, and it never did. Then it just ended (and there was NO STEREK BEYOND A KISS OR TWO. I WAS PROMISED STEREK. Stiles LITERALLY SAID to Derek towards the end, "So I think this won't ever happen.") and I gasped angrily and flipped off my Kindle. Also, it was rated Explicit and there was NO EXPLICIT CONTENT. Nothing made SENSE. The POV flipped between multiple characters with each section, and even worse: THERE WERE NO DIALOG TAGS until 10 conversations in, so I had to do that thing where I had to count backwards to see who the hell was saying what. 25% of the time I never could figure it out because the POV flipped and it was never resolved WHOSE POV IT WAS.

There were comments saying how brilliant it was, etc., and that was why I DL'd it in the first place. Now I just think "Is every one here incredibly high?"

Well, it's not like I'm out a dollar or anything, but it was a real head scratcher.

4. A group of girlfriends (I'm bring introduced to through my old high school buddy I mentioned reconnecting with a few posts back) are planning an awesome trip to Bali in September, and I'm pretty sure I'm going. I am INCREDIBLY excited about it, as Bali is on my Go To list for places I where I want to run away.

5. I'm very hungry. I want hot, bubbly cheese. Or sushi. Not together, though. =/ WHAT ARE YOU EATING, FLIST? And do you have a bite for me? :D

Why, oh why do authors promise the smexing and not deliver? How difficult is it to go back and change the ratings if they're wrong? Sheesh.

Bali! That is totally on my wish list.

There were hints of sex with other couples, who actually were the main pairing (even though it wasn't how the fic was advertised.) Also, LOADS of OFCs, which, whatever, but they had SO many words devoted to them, and I didn't come for original fiction, you know? Also, just random things happening with LOTS of words devoted to that and none of it served the story. SO. STRANGE.

I am so excited about this possibly working out re: Bali, I can't even. CANNOT EVEN.

Mmm, Pho! Oh, that sounds awesome. you know, there's a great little Thai/Vietnamese place a half mile up the road... I think I need to call something in!

Funny, I was reading something over the week-end that was kind of similar as respects confusing as hell and under-delivering on what was promised. But then, even after thinking, "This is AWFUL", I continued to read.

I've been participating in some writing craft discussions over at Jennifer Crusie's website recently and wholeheartedly agree with her contention that it's incumbent on the story-teller to hook the audience NOW, have good stuff happen NOW, not promise that it'll get better and expect people to stick around (ahem S.H.I.E.L.D.)

It is therefore inexplicable to me why I read even one more word after coming to the conclusion that it was terrible. I think I've got some sort of OCD-must-see-it-through-to-the-bitter-end illness of some sort. Gah! I did stop about a chapter later, but I mourn for those lost moments.

Why do we continue to read? Gah. So much time devoted to this thing, trying to figure out WHY.

Wow, do I completely agree with the hook 'em now, and hook 'em HARD (and Agent SHIELD. Had to bow out quickly on that from sheer boredom).

I definitely had to see it through to the end, shake my Kindle, see if more words were falling out, go back to the beginning and read the intro/summary and wonder WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?

Home made chicken curry later.

I made spinach and butternut squash with ricotta lasagna last night? It was good! However, I think I will bypass the generic no-boil noodles in the future. Despite baking ten minutes over the time they were still too al dente for my taste.

Man, NOTHING annoys me than fics who lie to you and don't pony up the mansex when they CLEARLY say they will. I would NEVER do that. I forgot to check the right ticky box for my hockey fic in AO3 and someone bitched because they thought it was a complete work and I felt SO BAD!

AHHHHHHH!! That sounds so damn good!! While we were in DC, my daughter ordered this 100 layer lasagne that was stupid good. Like punch a nun good. And I've found the same to be true with no-cook noodles. =/ BOO.

GIVE ME THE GOSH DURN MANLOVE, WRITER. If you say E/NC-17, THERE BETTER BE BONERS AND UNFING, RIGHT?? *laughs* But seriously. DOn't fucking pan to the fireplace in an M or E-rated fic. I WILL FIND YOU AND STARE ANGRILY AT YOU WHILE YOU EAT CEREAL.

What am I eating? Made a gluten-free patty melt tonight. The buttered GF bread and melty cheese were so tasty, but the prepackaged burger was nasty. I pulled the burger out and essentially ate a GF grilled cheese. Nom nom nom. Side of crinkle cut fries and corn on the cob, I could almost pretend it was summer, except for the winter storm set to hit us around midnight tonight, dammit.

It's funny that you bring up TWD. I just watched this week's ep. I kinda went in expecting one thing and got blown away by what actually happened. I have been on the fence about the quality and my interest in TWD for the last few seasons, so I have to admit that I don't get excited by every episode. It's more like one episode every four or five episodes is good, IMO. This was definitely one of the best of the season. I wasn't a big Carol fan until this season, and after The Grove, I am sold on Carol. She has to be my new favorite. It makes me actually want to become a Darol shipper b/c I heart these two characters the most.

The show has definitely moved to character-driven arcs, and I think most people who are MEH about the show are wishing it would go back to being more action-driven. I love this season, but I don't mind taking my time with a show, which I know isn't a popular opinion.

CAROL PELETIER. Man, she's the best. She's hands down my favorite character arc of the entire show, with Michonne, Daryl and Rick bringing up the rear.

I'm not big on action-oriented movies or television shows. I like character development with my story. But, I'd rather TWD be more action and less talky if it means I don't have to sit through another episode where all a character does is sit on a couch and stare into nothingness. I get that TWD is about how the humans survive in a zombie apocalypse, but does it have to be so boring? Not every episode makes me want to blow my brains out in order for something interesting to happen, but this show needs to find a balance between action and character. It's just not there. IMO.

I don't think it's boring, and I really like the show. It makes me really unhappy when people want to tell me all the negative things they think about something I really like, so maybe you can talk to someone else about that stuff? Thanks.
