life is good. no, really, it is.
Mar. 12th, 2005 10:30 amLovely day today (aside from the wind - bleargh!) and I'm about to start my 8 mile walk. Hooray! Operation Bikini (or mom equivalent) is under way, I've been good, and I feel good. Yesterday on my walk I encountered a blue heron. 20 feet away, stock still, and as the stroller got near enough he took off, wide wings slowly flapping. Ahh!! Birds make me happy. Today I changed my path so I get to wander by the massive Brinkman Ranch and see if they are letting the foals into the arena. New horsies! All knees and bounce! I am such a girl. But fuzzy noses and baby talk! Of course, the mares won't let you anywhere near the babies, but I can see them and watch them kick the soccer balls in the arena and giggle...
I loved seeing your pics (those of you who spammed me, or your LJs at least). I checked out my userinfo and saw that I have new friends! *waves hello* Have gone on a massive friending spree, so feel free to comment and let me get to know you. If you haven't commented here before, pop in, say hello.
On a side note, I get to see
somecandytalkin tomorrow for jazz, nibbles, and plants. Woot! Also,
crazydiamondsue is up to her elbows in her new house! I'm so happy for her and Caza: first time home owners and it is so CUTE.
violethamster nominated my fic, Lubed! The Musical for the Nancy Award at
atsawards! Hee! That absolutely made my day.
If you aren't reading
julia_here's fic "Irish Rose" you are missing out. Lyrical, historic, dark, and lovely. It reads like a novel, which is probably why I save up mutliple chapters to read at once. She puts up new chapters on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
I've obviously had my three cups of coffee, so I'm off to burn off this excess energy. Have a lovely day!

Date: 2005-03-12 10:04 am (UTC)It ended up being a 6 mile walk. Too windy, and in my face most of it. (I boggle at how a circle through the park means 3/4 of the time with wind in my face. Wind is evil) Did see a bunch of Scissor-Tail Swifts moving in. That's a great thing about Texas: we see the majority of the migratory birds, and that pleases me greatly.
Have you ever tried olive oil on the really dry days? Let's hope your husband really loves you, or he may find new sleeping arrangements. :-) And I'll say this: your fic is one of the more professional feeling fic out there. I really do save up multiple chapters to read at a time. WIP hurt me as I'm greedy by nature.

Date: 2005-03-12 10:48 am (UTC)I can see waiting and reading a bunch of chapters at once; they're averaging about 2200 words, which is a pretty short read, although it still takes Matthew and me a good long time to get the revision/beta/revision cycle finished. I've actually officially bailed on a WIP this week because it was being bad for my mental health, and SO understand why someone woud wait for this one to be done.
Julia, feeling the hot breath of the end of the buffer at my heals, although I've got three weeks worth of chapters in the can, and another chapter half-written

Date: 2005-03-12 09:52 am (UTC)You're inspiring me to do my own operation bikini. It'll be hard though. I tend to overeat (more-heh) when I'm on holiday. Maybe you should come visit me and then it'll give me some incentive to look cute and stuff. Heeee!
It's a beeeyootiful day outside, so maybe I'll get some of those pics for you! Oooh, your happy, giddy mood is rubbing off on me! :D

Date: 2005-03-12 10:59 am (UTC)We just took the first step in renovating the basement today -- talked to the guy who redid our bathroom. He's going to give us an estimate next week, we'll maybe get started in a few more weeks. We did order the new light fixtures. It will be a big job and mean lots of dust and upheaval but it will be worth it. And maybe make the prospect of exercise that much less dreary.

I'll give your cell a call around 11 and see what's shaking? Otherwise, feel free to call me whenever. I'm walking from 9 - 10:30, or thereabouts. If it's super windy, I'll be cutting it short.
