So obviously, tonight is HP night. The bookstore we're going to is a converted prison. As in, Wild West Texas jail from the 1870s. So to get your book at midnight, you have to go through "Azkaban" to get your copy from an "inmate." Wheee! They are setting up a "Three Broomsticks" outside with butterbeer, chocolate frogs, etc., then the middle section of the store is set up like the Gryffidor Common Room for fun, activities, etc.

I heard a TERRIBLE rumor that literally made me tear up. I felt like an idiot for caring so much about a fictional character, but. For those that are as excited as me for the book, you probably get that feeling of connection with HP's world. I will not say what I heard here. NO SPOILERS!! I promise to keep that, in kind.

In the meantime, just feeling out of sorts generally - lethargic ([livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue knows why and I can't help it, Sue!), antsy, wanderlusty. Hee! That's probably due to the sad movies I've been watching and the lack of sleep this week. But SO MUCH TO READ. GAH! What's everyone else doing tonight? Avoiding the freaks like me? Getting dudded up and hitting the book parties? Getting crazed at a club and wondering what all the fuss is about?

Confidential to [livejournal.com profile] marlo: The boy is too cool to dress up, but the girl is wanting to be Hermione tonight. Em will probably be asleep before 9. Hee!

Off to do a bit of shopping and play outdoors. It's unusually cool for Texas in July - under 90 degrees! *watches for impending apocolypse*

Oh, wait! Rove is getting busted: obviously hell has frozen over! Hooray!

I rather wish I were going to a Harry Potter event, but instead I am going to a cottage that's not near any bookstore. Which means I won't get my copy until Monday as I pre-ordered it and will have to pick it up from the post office. Monday! I ask you.

::pouts::

MONDAY!!! Oh, OUCH. I'll be chatty about the book by then but I PROMISE to use a cut so as to not spoil.

You could pretend you're in Hagrid's hut?

Oooh, prison! You so win! Have much fun tonight, and bring along a pair of fake spectacles in case the boy suddenly decides omg, he should have dressed up 'cause everyone else is in costume, waaahh!! :D

And the walls are stone, and the stairs are old, narrow, and creaky, and there's a basement bar (basements are RARE here) and... it's just the coolest bookstore ever! I'll be taking pictures...

And SUCH a good idea about dress up. You rule. You posted new fic today, yes? Hooray!

I'm watching Battlestar Galactica tonight (you would lurrrve the kickass ladies on that show, Stoney, I'm just saying).

But I've ordered the book and I hope I get it earlyish tomorrow. am planning to have a very irresponsible wkd of reading HP and writing fic.

I am about to make my list of Top 5 TV shows Alexis Denisof should be on (rrrm, actually it's 15, and I made 5 of them up) and there's an item on there just for you!

NO SPOILERS!! Oh, I would just be sick to my stomach if I found out major plot points...

I'm taking pictures of this bookstore. It's just the coolest: a large stone edifice with the hump on the top facade like at the Alamo, raw, rough hewn wood floors, stone walls, and JAIL CELLS at the top! Wheee!

Yay Gryffindor! House pride, yo.

OMG, keep it to yourself *lalalalala....* Trolls have been spamming HP comms and other comes likewise with supposed un-cut rumors from the "book". They've also posted scanned pics of pages taken from the book *cough*, but because of few kind souls from the comms, I scrolled on down with my eyes closed.

And yay for HP festivities! *snogs you*

Lucky you to have such a cool bookstore, I have to go Borders. *pout* Have lots of fun.
Will be seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as my love for JD is completly insane and knows no bounds. Afterwards there will be margaritas, spanish fries, and brownies with cinnamon.

Spanish fries? What are Spanish fries? Why do I not know of these?

MARGARITAS. I heartily approve of your plans. but Borders! They'll have fun there, even though it isn't a CONVERTED PRISON. Wheee!

Spanish fries are fries with jalapenos, dry spices, and fried onions, they are tasty, and go great with pomegranate 'ritas. Do they call them something else in Texas? Also will be writing smutty EM/HC RPS because of you, you bad influence.

OOOOOOoooooh. Cheesy fries. :-D

SO yummy. And pomegranate 'ritas are DELISH. But my homemade lime ones are my fave. (But that's because I grow my own limes. Mmmm.)

RPS! HEE!! I'm evil and proud of it. Whee!

How is it that I refresh flist and there's nothing, I refresh a few minutes later and you're there *and* you already have a gazillion comments?

Have fun buying the book! I checked #1 out of the library - haven't opened it yet. Will do. Ron!!! Cute pic.

STOP FEELING THAT WAY! You are the God King Temptress of my LJ World, okay? Needeth thou more? (Well, as a self-same kind of whore, yeah, but still...) Cryptic, much? Heh. I love you. Oh, go read my meme. There's a sniffle-sniffle-love bit about you.

Are you gonna crimp Morgan's hair??? Sorry, the only Hermione I know is from the cinema...

I'm going to make a bunch of braids while her hair is wet, then blow dry it, then brush it out. HEEE!!! Hermione. Mainly because I don't own a crimping iron. Or acid-washed pegged jeans. Ha ha!

I LOVE YOU! I'm heading over!! I've been running errands while Mr S has been here! I like exclamation points!

Dude, so not an idiot. And I mean that across the fandom board.

Getting the book tomorrow when the grocery store (yes, you read that right) across the street opens. Have one on hold.

Well, if I wasn't able to get my wristband today securing our family's book, I was going to hightail it to Kroger at 12:01 to pick it up. So... yeah.

HI VINNIE!!! Imma use a different fandom icon because someone kewl made it for me and I love him. Uh, Ewan. I love you, too.

I am SO JEALOUS. I can't get Evan to read HP. He is completely, completely stuck on Lemony Snicket and will not emerge from that universe to contemplate the possibility of any other. Except Secrets of Droon, and Captain Underpants. I'm hoping that when Lemony Snicket runs out eventually he will consider opening HP.

ANYWAY, I don't really want to go to a bookstore midnight thingy by myself. Boo. Hiss.

You'd better post those pictures so I can enjoy your fun vicariously!

And isn't it fun to watch Karl Rove turn slowly on the spit? Although, I'm chewing nails because the fire's not hotter! The Boston Globe is putting the story on page 3!!! This should be page 1 material, I tell you. Every morning I fuss about it.

What's with the lethargy?

As for the book reading, I'm evil and tell the kids they cannot see the movie unless they read the book, first. They HATE me for it. Muah ah ah!

Oh, Anne: if you ever come visit me, I'm taking you to this store. It JUST opened two weeks ago and is quite possibly the best bookstore I've ever been to. It's the Gryffidor Common Room and Three Broomsticks with BOOKS! Oh, and the jail upstairs. Hee!!

As to Rove... I'll say this: the Dallas Morning News named Rove the "Texan of the Year" for 2004 *gags and pukes* and THEY'VE had it on page one.

And if you think about it... That's good. The REPUBLICANS' PAPER is scowling at him. Right? *clings* That MF. That treasonous MF.

I'm holding out on the movie until Evan reads the book, too. So far he's not agitating for the movie yet, though. Bah.

I want to come visit yooooou!!!!

I knew there was no way I could stay up until midnight to get my copy, so I ordered it. I know, support my local bookstore and all, but I need the sleep. So it should show up on my doorstep tomorrow. Isn't it funny how we are all excited about it, and the kids are like "So?" I'm sure I'll get the twelve year old to read it eventually. My hubby just wants to know how to get the audio version of it. He can't sit still to read anything. If he's on a long trip, then he'll listen. So I need to buy that also. Do you know how long the last one was? Like 37 hours or something like that. And I had already read it.

Man, we are getting ready to leave and suddenly I'm SOOPER tired. No!!!!

I'm on a waiting list at the library for the book. Yes, I'm not buying it. And I will regret this forever if I get spoiled between now and the time I finally get the book. *grr*

As for tonight, I'm all settled in for a Sci Fi Friday premiere night. Mmm, Stargates SG-1 & Atlantis & Battlestar Galactica. Yay!

Oh, that's right? SciFi got all that stuff rocking the Fri nite lineup.

I WILL NOT SPOIL YOU.
