Reasons why I'm lame and funny things from today

Let's get the lame out of the way first.

• I totally bawled yesterday while rewatching the Connor arc on Angel.


• While taking notes.


• And looking up references in Dante's inferno.


• And deciding to not post all of my notes about religious symbols/themes in the Holtz/Angel/Connor storylines because the ONLY PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT MY CONNOR LOVE/INTEREST are going away to MEET HIM.


• And I have moments where I can't breathe for excitement for them because: VINCENT.

(I swear to god, you mock my Connor love and I'll cut you. I'LL CUT YOU WITH BRANDI'S KNIFE!)

Funny:

• My son sighing today, chuckling, and saying "I sure do admire that Fred Weasley." Ahahahaha! My little juvie-wanna-be in training.


• The ongoing discussion of the gayness of Eternia and He-Man in entrenous88's journal here.

We'll ignore that I know all the character names and that I obsessively watched it. And shipped She-Ra/He-Man before my brain realized they were brother and sister. I blame George Lucas for making me imagine and want Luke/Leia. We all know Yoda/Chewbacca is OTP.

And I would really like to see in a story how Spike puts wax plugs in his nostrils because Buffy has the hots for Angel, hence the blocking of her scent. (The constant sniffing thing skeevs me out, people.)

I support your Connor interest! But I'm about him as you are Xander - love the character, not so much with the naked. But support and reading and squee you have.

Dude. I LOVE Connor. Love him like I love few other people in the Jossverse. I don't talk about it much b/c I don't talk much Buffy/Angel at all anymore but if you're looking for an audience to blab about Connor to, my ears are ready and waiting cause he ownz me. As far as I'm concerned Season 4 of Angel is one of the finest, most well written and well acted seasons of television that I've ever seen and the h8 for it makes me cry.

You know, I used to HAAAAAAAATE Season 4. With a fiery hot yadda yadda. Then it hit me. Now, I just LOVE it. There's way too much going on in it, sure, but when you focus on a particular storyline, it's wonderful. (They really needed about 8 more episodes to flesh everything out, imo.)

OMG! I never really thought about it before now but I totally bet my hetcest kink comes from Luke/Leia and He-Man/She-Ra. It's amazing how we sometimes miss the obvious. I, too, loved those pairings as a kid. And I didn't care that they were siblings, it just seemed what was meant to be. I had previously blamed Flowers in the Attic for my obsession but Star Wars and She-Ra definitely came earlier for me. I hate love you for helping me see this about myself.

I really don't hate Connor at all, he just doesn't blow the wind up my skirt in a tingly kind of way - but that'll be because he has tiny little ineffectual girly lungs so he can't get any kind of airflow going without passing out. But the acting and the hurting and the OTP of Angel as Dad with his son and the hurting and the acting and the waaahh.

Was Austin reading that wonderful scene in Book 5 where the twins decide they've had enough education? Their finest hour, at least so far.

As for the gayness of He-Man, a few months ago Ron told me about a conversation he had with a couple of gay friends of his -- somehow they got to talking about He-Man and just how very, very gay that show was. Specifically the leather aspect of the gay world. Makes you wonder about the creators of the show and how intentional it all was.

I was always a She-Ra girl, and didn't really think of it as a fannish thing because it is compartmentalized in my brain as Symbol Of My Childhood. Which is different from Fannish Things. Season 4 ripped my heart out. And I watched it all at once, because that's how I watched every season of Btvs and AtS -- by myself, on DVD, long after the parade had passed by. But I can't imagine having had to watch just one episode, then wait a week for the next. And if it was pre-empted for some lame-ass reason? * shudders *

Connor is a lovely thing, oh yes he is. But I didn't really get a tingle about him until I read this little beauty (http://http://witling.neoblonde.com/pages/thefullgoods.php) by Witling. It's a Vince/James RPS, very believable, very hot. And now I'm going to have to go back and watch Season 4 again, with new eyes on Connor this time.

ARGH - part of me likes the idea of learning about a show when it's finished and watching all at once, but it was SO gratifying for Tuesday to roll around and get a double shot of anticipation, then build up more for the next week.

But understanding story arcs and such isn't as easy, of course. And yes, ma'am, Witling writes some GOOD RPS. *cough* I have a fair bit, as well. If you ever needed some Connor/VK recs, why I know of several places to send you. *g*
