Help an old lady, would ya?

Attention Mr. FBI man: this is all theoretical. Er, I'm doing research. *cough*
Say I have a TV show that was downloaded onto my computer. (.avi) Say that I wanted to burn it onto a DVD so I could watch it on my DVD player and TV. How would one go about that process, with the understanding that this is all hypothetical, and none of us would ever break the law?
And say someone had VSO Converter already. Is that what one (not me, certainly) would use?
I really want egg drop soup or hot and sour soup today. And then some tea. And a blanket. And a kitty to snorgle. And a show that was not downloaded from the internet and burned onto a DVD. :)

Date: 2008-02-05 05:10 pm (UTC)I wish I could be of more help!
I used a program I got at http://www.videohelp.com/ for a while - there are lots of guides there.
But ultimately it became too time consuming so I just bought a new VCR for like 40 bucks that could play avi files.

*you don't count, because technically you are a "piece of ass that is formerly Mormon"

Date: 2008-02-06 09:52 am (UTC)From the site (http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html):
About: Avi2Dvd is an All In One tool in order to convert with just few clicks an Avi/Ogm/Mkv/Wmv/Dvd to Dvd/Svcd/Vcd.
Supports multiple audiostreams and up to three textual external subtitles. From the version 0.3.4 and later it can support DV-AVI videos, so it can handle captured avi's from digital videocameras. Avi2dvd can also produce semi professional dvd menus with chapter/audio/subtitles buttons with extreme facility !
This utility is 100% freeware and uses only freeware software.
I can't comment on it since I've never used it, but it does look like something you could use.

Date: 2008-02-06 01:17 pm (UTC)Open your VSO converter.
There should be a + sign to the right of the blank screen area...click this to add your .avi file to be converted.
You can change the name of the episode/movie title etc. if you choose by right clicking the now added file-name.
Pop in a blank dvd into your dvd burner.
Click "convert"
When it's done converting it should automatically recognize a blank dvd in your burner and begin the burning process...usually the dvd will eject when it's complete.
Also an eta readout will give you a idea of how long it will take to convert and burn...generally between 20 and 45 mins depending of the size of the avi.
Hope that helps Hon...anything else?...just ask...no prob.
:D
