All Saturday I moved flagstones, rewired my landscape lighting, dug into our crappy clay soil (I have pictures - it's like cement. This is why I keep trying to remove so much of it.) and had to dig up several perennials to move/divide/etc.

You think that'd be tiring enough, but it turns out something I ate/ingested/alien pod I breathed in decided to add insult to injury and I spent all Saturday night (no, really) throwing up things that my neighbors might have eaten. I mean, after a few minutes, I had nothing left to offer the porcelain gods, but they weren't appeased, the bastards. From 11pm until 5 am, every hour on the hour. I spent all day yesterday trying to just keep water down and to try and sleep. Finally, at 3am this morning, I chugged a half liter of Gatorade, took three aspirins (my head was pounding) and willed my body to keep it down. And woke up at 10 this morning, weak as kittens and five pounds lighter.

Bleurgh. Today is all about dry toast, liquid, and maybe sitting in the sun to try and feel human again. I have no idea what could have caused this, the only thing I ate that was different from everyone else was a glass of wine. SURELY IT WASN'T THE WINE???? It would never betray me, would it?! (For the record, it was a funky ass bottle of Coppola's weird experiment wine [Alicante Bouchet, 2007], that someone gave me because I can't stand Coppola's wine, ergo, I didn't buy it for myself.)

The Mr. stayed home today to make sure I was back on track. And to do laundry (shh, he doesn't know that, yet.) So if I've not responded to your comment, email, phone call, etc., that's why. I didn't want you to hear "Hi-oooooooark!" Because that's disgusting.

Send melba toasts, pls. (Oh, and I wanted to wish those who celebrate a Happy Passover!)

Poor baby!! Damn those alien pods, anyhow. Hope you're feeling better.

We finally have a pretty sunshiny day today. We start digging the garden Wednesday. Eeeee!

I swear, I don't remember the egg exploding into my space helmet. I'm going to have spaghetti later, though...

YAY GARDENING!! I demand pics. Especially of Jonah's grubby hands digging into the ground.

you got hit with the Death by Vomit bug, huh? it's been making its way around here, too. I have several friends who had it they all said they had never had a bug like that before. Glad you survived!!

Man, so weird!! no one else felt like that, so I just assumed it was from something I ate. Gah. I'm glad I survived, too! (And yeah - I have NEVER thrown up like that before. Not even after a night of pounding margaritas, Irish Car Bombs and smoking Menthols. And if THAT doesn't tell you something...)

Gleh, I kinda think it was. Which makes me SO SAD you don't even know!! (At least it wasn't a wine I loved, because I can't even LOOK at the bottle at this point.)

Mmmm, gingerale. *leans*

Oh no, not wine sickness! But as you say, you don't drink it usually because, if you're like me, something that gave you 'I wish I was dead' hurling will never darken your house again. e.g. Bacardi since 1974; kebabs since 1984. I was also felled by ye virus from the Outer Limits this time last year, which was no fun with a broken ankle. 12 hours of the buick finally halted by Pepto-Bismol.

OMG, I couldn't stand the smell of rum and coke for YEARS from a night of overindulgence (back in '91.) Took me a decade to be able to be around those two. Blech.

Oh my goodness, as if the broken ankle wasn't enough, Universe! Poor baby!

Mmmm, chicken sandwich. I'm so hungry, I can't even begin.

yes, the Death by Vomit bug is making its way around here, as well. People keep saying 'flu', but that isn't what it is.

Poor you, I'm glad you're feeling better. Take it slow, please.

Yeah, I don't know what this was, but I didn't have any chills or fever - just the belly bleurgh.

Take it slow? What's that? :D (Thank you.)

I don't know, it could have been that Coppola wine. That shit is nasty.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
I just really think that's it, too. The problem is that I only had that and two bottles of really good wine that were over $60. I went for the cheap shit and look where that got me??

Maybe the experiment of that vintage is poison?

I would rather have been shot, too. AND I THINK THAT IS THE EXPERIMENT, TOO. (However, it did lend me an entire day to wallow in bed and watch Southland. Later today I'll catch up on your posts and we'll talk shop. DUDE. I couldn't love that show more if I tried.)

Wine would never turn on you so, even Coppola. Something floated in on a dust mote and infiltrated your system. Or Coppola sought revenge for your disdain. Toss-up.

Feel better. 7-Up for what ails ya.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
See, I refuse to believe that wine, my BFF, would turn on me so. REFUSE. I like to think that there was something poisonous in the ground that infiltrated me - the hateful kaliche clay soil finally got revenge on me, woe!!

I think you probably had the Notorious Stomach Bug making the rounds in Texas right now~~ It is the most godawful thing I've ever had in my life. I thought I sas going to D I E. My co-workers thought I was exaggerating~~ until they got it. Then I had to work 16 straight to cover for them. Then go back in the next morning, 8 hours later & work another 12.

Be sympathetic when the kids/hubby get it. I thought it was food poisoning, it was that violent, until other people got it.

I keep hearing that there's a stomach bug around - I've not heard of anyone I'm in contact with getting it, though! Weird. Capps, it was the worst bout of puking I've ever had. EVER.

I stayed away from pretty much everyone, so hopefully - if it is a contagion - no one else will get it. Bleh. Horrible stuff.

When you say a GLASS of wine...? No, but poor baby, that sounds absolutely awful. Think of it though as really unpleasant compulsary stomach crunches. You might be dehydrated and achy and wanting to die but at least you'll have an impressive six-pack. :(

I count glasses by fish bowls, isn't that how y'all do it out there? Oh, wait, that's what we call an Aussie measure.

Ahahahaha, it totally worked out my stomach, I actually laughed mid-hoark thinking that very thing. I'm aces today - nothing but sleep and fluids last night and this morning, thank goodness. THANK GOODNESS, D. GET ON YOUR KNEES AND THANK IT. Then burn a calf in its honor. And then put the calf on a bun and eat it. With a little mustard and lettuce. Mmmm.

Well, that sure sounds like fun.

I will likely make my first trek to a nursery on Saturday just to look. I haven't started spring cleanup yet and I have no idea what lived and what gave up the ghost. You never know what you're going to wind up with.

Lynne, it was astounding, the level of OHHOLYSHIIIIIIT that hit like a ton of bricks.

And of course, I spent the day resting by finishing the landscape steps, plants, moving decomposed granite and putting in a new rose, moving over some bluebells.... It's a sickness. :D

Here, have some Matzoh, babydoll. Absolutely nothing better in the uh, binding department. I suppose this is why we ate it in the desert. Jews are not so much into outdoor bathroom-ing.
