POOL CASUALTY
Aug. 12th, 2010 02:42 pmOh my god. It's not a person or an animal, IT IS FAR WORSE. They've ripped out my front flower bed - unbeknownst to me - to access the main water valve. IF I HAD KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE SAVED THEM. *cry*
I know it's lame, but I am SHAKING. Like, a huge Texas sundrop, several zebra mallows, all of my meadow sages, a MEMORIAL ROSE you know, to memorialize someone, my tiger lily bulbs, and that's all I can tell by peeking out the window. I can't bear to go out there and look. (It would have been nice to know about them digging there ahead of time so I could have dug up the plants myself and saved them. AUGH. I'll be letting my pool man know I'm frustrated by this. I'm sure other people don't care, so he didn't think to tell me but MY PLANTS ARE MY FRIENDS. *cry again* I know I'm a dork, I KNOW.)
Still. D: First person to make fun of me for crying gets a brown grasshopper in their nose.

Date: 2010-08-12 07:50 pm (UTC)That is your property and anyone who looked at your front yard would know that it's more than a few stupid ass store-bought pansies to fill up space. And even if it WAS just pansies? They should confirm with their client before they start digging things up. That's how business is done. It's not about what they thought was important, they just wanted to get the job done and neglected to alert their client of the changes. THAT IS BAD BUSINESS.
I would be so furious, and I don't blame you at all for crying. That is hard work and a joy of yours that they ruined. I'm sorry.
They need to know that they seriously erred here.

Date: 2010-08-12 10:54 pm (UTC)And this is not the first time she's had trouble with people jackin' up her yard while doing something completely non-landscape-related. People can be very, very thoughtless, especially when they're on a timed schedule to get things done.

Date: 2010-08-12 07:54 pm (UTC)I would be livid, and I am not even in any way a gardener.
You may actually be able to save some of them, depending on how they tore out the bed. Our guys here would have just dug them up relatively whole and not chopped them up or anything. The roots may be intact for some of them. Go take some deep breaths and go into triage mode.

Date: 2010-08-12 07:57 pm (UTC)I'm surprised they did this without asking/informing you first. Whether you paid a landscaper to do this or you did it yourself - it's still your dime, your time. They absolutely should have discussed this with you before digging them up.
And I would cry if I were you. I've seen the photos you've posted of your gardens, they're works of art.

I am so sorry that in their blitz to finish the pool they neglected the good business practice of making sure you were OK with them seriously fucking with your landscape.
The minimum I'd expect them to offer is financial compensation to cover the loss of the plants and an offer of labour (or equal cost) to cover redigging and prepping the bed they just ruined.

Date: 2010-08-12 09:14 pm (UTC)I'm outraged for you. You LOVED those plants and you worked so hard making those beds. A simple, *knock knock* "Um, we're gonna be diggin' in yer front yard here in a bit. You got some plants there. Just lettin' ya know." Three minutes, tops.
I'm angry for you. Buttheads.
And they yet live?

In other news, ifyou're getting rain today, I'm going to yell at the rain gods. WE NEED IT IN COPPELL. I may be burning to a crisp here.

Date: 2010-08-12 11:23 pm (UTC)Oh, yes, one more moment of shared pain...my then-husband didn't really like gardening. So, color me surprised when he came in one hot afternoon to tell me he'd been weeding. I went outside to take a look and found...my entire shade garden ripped out by the roots and left in a pile in the broiling sun.
So, no, I won't laugh at you. I'm surprised you didn't go after them with your own chainsaw.

:(
Edited because I was so projecting my issues for today.
