Are you ready for some football??
Sep. 8th, 2008 08:24 amI promise that I'm not going to constantly talk sports in my LJ. But I do have to say this: I've been a Cowboys fan since I was a kid. If you have issues with America's Team, take it elsewhere. I'm Texan before I'm a lady, is what I'm saying. :D (Super Bowl, baby!! How good were those rookies? Felix Jones! That kid... Awesome.) And UT and U of Utah have a good year coming up, and if my alma matter (Univ. of Utah) doesn't kick the ever loving shit out of BYU this year, I may boycott the color red.
OH!!! OH MY GOD I ALMOST FORGOT. So, #1, Blood on the Highway is up for 6 B Movie Awards, including one for Nick Brendon, Best Supporting Actor, which is cool, but also: we are in Fear Fest with the casts from Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Monster Squad for a panel/convention. And we will be on the panel, too, which is freaking crazy and awesome.
moosesal GUESS WHO DECIDED TO BE AT THE NEXT FearFest and not THIS one?
COREY FELDMAN and the entire cast of the original Lost Boys. *Cries!!!!* Dude, that would have been crack heaven. Corey freaking Feldman, co-panelist with me.I would have asked him about his love relationship with Haim to see if it was anything like my fic. No, I wouldn't, because that is bad behavior. But I would have been thinking it.
Last, uh... did anyone like True Blood on HBO last night? Because I was scratching my head a lot. Why does the "hot vampire" have to be so freaking unattractive? He looks like he needs a nap, a facial, and a bath. Just me? I don't know what's happened to Anna Paquin, but she had dead eyes for most of that episode. *hums "Going through the motions......"*
oh my god the season finale to Metalocalypse, nooooooooo!

Date: 2008-09-08 01:55 pm (UTC)I went to the Fear Fest site to see if Jared Padalecki (SPN, Friday 13th) was going to show and it appears he is not (is that the cast of the new Friday 13th? Or a prior one? I gave up after the 3rd sequel.) I was going to give you the opportunity to tell Mr. Padalecki that he fixed your friend's ovaries (I swear I spontaneously ovulated on the spot...or it could have just been that down-low tickle.)
The Cowboys are the only sports team I support. This is not to say I watch their games or keep up with their stats, but I can name more former Cowboys players than any other teams. *g*
Sorry I didn't call back yesterday -- I ended up going to Wal-Mart *and* Target (quite a feat with a newborn, as you know) and then making my awesome, kick-ass manicotti (from scratch, pain in the ass but worth it) and then going over to Jen & Cherie's to share dinner and watch the Chicago/Colts game. Okay, I totally didn't watch the game, but I gossiped with Jen and pumped my boobs while getting marriage proposals from Cherie and their neighbors over my mad cookin' skillz. My life is different than other people's. I will try you this afternoon or this evening, after the childrens get fed.
Where is Fear Fest? I'm too lazy to go back to the site...and check you out, you stunning panelist, you!

Date: 2008-09-08 02:27 pm (UTC)I don't know about Padalecki - he'll probably be in the middle of filming when it comes around, so I don't know. I'll be OF COURSE updating if he's going to be there. And yes, I would inform him of his miraculous ability to spontaneously heal ovaries.
I bet you were worn out after all that activity last night! Call whenever, no big. You have important leetle schmusens that require mom lovings. <3
Fear Fest is in Dallas, which is v v convenient for me. :D

Date: 2008-09-08 01:57 pm (UTC)I got "True Blood" from Blockbuster last week and I didn't think it was too bad. Of course, I don't have HBO so I won't be able to follow it, but I'm interested to see how well it follows the books it's based on: Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris.

Date: 2008-09-08 02:28 pm (UTC)We're still hoping for distribution in major theaters. It's a looooooong process from filming to showing.
Never read the books, so I don't know how faithful the show is. Just... it was confusing both in the story and the tone of the show, imo.

Date: 2008-09-08 01:57 pm (UTC)tapedrecorded it (taped? send me back to 1989, that's like, so totally old!). I've seen a few of the promos and was quite surprised at the casting choices, though. No one looks like I imagined them from the books. Sookie especially I pictured as more of a babe. (Though I will say that Bill at least looks like a guy that could've fought in the Civil War, if nothing else. )On the other hand, it does seem like they would be trying to keep the essence of the books in setting, story, characters, etc. intact so I was excited for that.

I was in a movie with two of them and couldn't bring myself to get a picture taken with either of them! My husband finally stepped in and said, "Let me get one of you both.") I AM DORK, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! Ahahahahahaha.

I'm trying to think -- has there been a successful adaptation of a book series to TV?
no subject
Date: 2008-09-08 06:42 pm (UTC)I think the one book to TV adaption that's worth its salt is - of course - Anne of Green Gables.
Possibly Little House on the Prairie, but Laura is completely different in the books than on the show, so I take that back. The Stand was a good mini-series?

Date: 2008-09-08 10:16 pm (UTC)HAHAHAHAHA - oh my gosh, the football parties at the U and the Y. And I'm from the infamous Red River Shootout locale! I learned a thing or two about pranks while going to the U.
I think the only school rivalry that can match the U vs. the Y is Ohio/Michigan. (But I still kinda think the Utah rivalry is a bigger deal. I mean, it's saints vs. sinners! *G*)
