I didn't ask, and I didn't tell. Wait, that's not the right one, I did more by 9am than most people do all day. And now I'm ready for my nap.

CAN WE TALK ZOMBIES MORE, GUYS?! Because I watched every minute of the marathon yesterday, the premiere last night, and then read THIS AWESOME RECAP/DISCUSSION POST this morning, and I want you to, too, and then let's talk there, because that girl needs some boosting, for she is new to the whole writing/internet game. (Let's support fellow writers, yeah?)

Then I had to come off my high by listening to the Real Housewives of Jersey squabble, and it's official. I'm done after this season. I stuck it out, but life is too short, and I'm just over all of them. There's no joy in Mudville. I'll see it through, and then nada.

I started the laborious task of cleaning out my garden for the winter, and man, there was a lot of stuff that didn't die in our record-breaking summer of heat and drought. And it's called Bermuda grass. (Weeds, too.) I let everything go fallow this summer, because I didn't fancy dying of heat stroke, and I am paying for it now by having a lot of weeding to do. I filled a 50 gallon barrel with weeds. And I literally only moved 5 feet. For new folks: I have about 1/3 of an acre of garden space.

My hands are aching. I just can't bring myself to hire gardeners, though. They just don't know how to do it my way, zomg.

This is the lamest post ever, sorry. EXCEPT GO TO THE ZOMBIE LINK AND TALK!!! (I need a brownie today, I think. And I still have my workout to fit in. *cries*)
Note: I didn't. I've had sick children all weekend. #2 had the stomach bug, The Boy and Em had little colds, and today I had to pick up The Boy who now has the stomach bug. I am using a lot of Lysol. No me gusta tummy troubles. I helped my sister start moving into her new place on Saturday and I am so excited for her! I also have some pretty sweet bruises on my biceps from moving a sofa, so I feel tough. (Ha.) Which reminds me that I've yet to do P90X today.

Got the recap to the season finale of Real Housewives of New Jersey up, and man, this was a long-ass season. I thought they would have the normal 8 eps, but they stretched it to NINETEEN. Burned the hell out on that cray cray, ngl.

Because I was on sick watch, I actually got a lot of reading in, which I haven't been able to do in a long time. My current obsession (Glee, Klaine specifically) is a tough fandom, because there's not a lot of consideration for composition and grammar, one, and everyone wants porn. And... well. I've been in fandom a long time, and I have longtime friends that are PROFESSIONAL PORN WRITERS. So I'm a little spoiled. It's hard to find quality, is what I'm getting at (R/NC-17 or not.) I back out of the crying woobie-fied, fics that are everywhere, the repetitive borrowed phrases (holy crap, enough with "blown pupils" and "lay there wrecked." It's in EVERYTHING. Stop. Find a new way to say it, folks)

I did find two stories last night that I thought were nice, both by the same author. Not a lot of comments on them, which is sad, so if you do read, give her some attention. :) [livejournal.com profile] desirousof wrote a nice tie in to Merlin (even though I don't watch that show and would have like more about their reaction to it, than them talking about Merlin, because again: I don't watch it) and how someone that loves you can help you love something more when its shared. Take All The Courage You Have Left, PG. If you're looking for something naughtier, her Hard R As Soon As You Go is an easily- digested, first-love, sneaking off to have sexy times story. (Same author, name change, I believe.)

Wine Recs! Both Napa Cabs, the first is Oberon 2008. Oooh, this one was lovely. Not overly okay (which I don't care for) and a clean finish. Had it with a cheese board and salamis, would be awesome with any red meat. (Or nutty, spicy cheeses and veggies.)

#2 Atlas Peak, 2005 and this one was OUTSTANDING. Open it up, give it 15 minutes, then start drinking. Spicy, almost like a quality Spanish wine, but not overpowering. Had this with some blue cheese and bacon on crostinis, and it was a most delicious dinner for me. :) This one doesn't have a sweet finish, so I really enjoyed it. (No me gusta "vanilla" in wine.)

So what's up, chicken butts? Link me to fabulous things as it appears I'm going to be on continued sick duty for a bit. *chinfists*
Not like that, I had a sick child and not enough sleep. Well, and I stayed up until something ridiculous like 3am (oh my god I need sleeeeeeeep) drinking bottle after bottle of wine with my friend talking about everything under the sun. She's my only fannish friend in town (aside from my sister, but we only have Buffy in common, fandom wise) and you know, I just wish I had a teleporter for my friends that live elsewhere when I want to talk about Shows/Fandom. You know? Sigh.

The weather is unbelievable today, so I'm going to pull weeds, because I know how to have a good time. But hey, 1) fresh air, 2) I've not been able to be in the garden in literally MONTHS and 3) exercise.

Speaking of, I started back up on P90X today because I got la-zy this summer, as did the Mr. I fully expect him to be there with me to the end, so he has to whip himself back into top form, or go out in a fiery blaze of scotch and steaks early so I can still be attractive while on the market. Lol. OY, pull ups, I didn't miss you. Well, I did, because I loved having Angela Basset-esque arms, but man, OUCH. I'll be feeling that one tomorrow.

Oh, and it's the next to last Jersey Housewives recap, and I think this is it for me. I am missing so much good television because of my obsession with crappy TV, and I think this just needs to be it. So come celebrate the near-end with me and make it all worth it. *cry* Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire should be up later today, those girls are hustling for ya.

OH #2. You may have missed this yesterday, but we've added a new design to our store, it's NOT SOOKIE. (It is. Well. No, because we don't want to be sued.) If you love True Blood, or you loved True Blood, you might very well love this. My sister did the original artwork and she's awesome, and the shirts are high quality, soft as hell, and at a great price. Plus, EVERY PENNY EARNED goes to supporting the staff of HDJM writers, and they're worth it. :)
It's only Monday, so I feel good about that. What work, you might ask this stay at home mom? DUH.

Glee: SEXY. Oh my god, the love I have for so much in this episode. I do get onto Holly Holiday, though. (Not like that!! My sweet lady kisses are for Santana.)
Will writes on the whiteboard in class the next day: “SEXY.” He starts talking about when a man and a woman, or whatever combination you happen to be, he’s not there to judge, when you and someone else love each other very much, sometimes you want to try and make your puzzle pieces fit together in a dark room. Afterward, you’ll probably cry a lot. This is natural.
RHoNJ: holy crap, Gay Greg is my new favorite housewife. Also, Milania makes me think of that kid from the Twilight Zone, the one who would put you in the cornfield.
Juicy tries once again to end the headache that is her voice and says, “Yeah. Whatever. It's not us, it's them. I don't start nothing.” OH OKAY CLEARLY WE'RE ALL BLIND AND DUMB NOW. Here, let me Anne Sullivan things for you, Juicy, and waterboard you until you get that I'm signing “eff you!” into your palm.

From our other writers:
True Blood! GUYS THIS SHOW, I DON'T EVEN.
It’s Halloween and everyone at Merlotte’s is in costume, because despite living amongst vampires, witches, werewolves and maenads, they haven’t lost their sense of whimsy. Terry and Arlene are dressed as zombies, and Arlene tells Sookie that zombies are the new vamps (someone made the closeout sale at Borders, apparently).

Spartacus: OH MY GOD, IT IS SO SAD ABOUT ANDY WHITFIELD DYING. :( Too young, too young.
Alone in his cell, Spartacus is daydreaming in his tiny gladiator panties about his many recent sweaty and blood-spattered exertions in the arena, to the delighted screams of the crowd. Hm, is he starting to enjoy his fame? The tiny smile on his face at the end of the very next day’s games says OH YES INDEED.

I have dl'd a ridiculous amount of fanfic to my Kindle and plan on sitting with my feet in the pool, reading, as my reward for being so virtuous. (And tonight is RHoBH!! Everyone needs some Lisa Vanderpump in their life. Everyone.)
  • I took my daughter for proper Under Things Fittings/Shopping this weekend, and she got over her initial embarrassment quickly when she saw that she would get pretty bras out of it. Lol. Thank you, Nordstrom's for being awesome. And for having a sale.

  • Now if I can only convince her that she doesn't need to buy boots in August when it's still 100+ degrees outside. School is in SIX DAYS AND CHANGE, YOU GUYS.

  • I love buying school supplies, even though I don't get to use them. Oh, Trapper Keepers with multi-pockets, you are still a delight.

  • Real Housewives last night: ASHLEY GOT HER ASS HANDED TO HER. Partly. I wax philosophic in this week's recap. Also, I go off on Teresa's evil children:

An excerpt: )

Also: I had naughty dreams about Albie Manzo. I blame his diamond push ups from last night's show. (What on earth??)

Guys, IDK about True Blood. I mean, yes, I'm still going to watch it, I've said this for four seasons now. BUT WHAT THE HELL. SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT. True Blood SPOILERS. )

I need to buy new school shoes for everyone today. My life is a whirligig of excitement, I know. (And Hoarders is tonight! My new boyfriend Matt Paxton is on it, be sure to tune in.)

[ETA] my husband just said the most romantic thing to me ever: "How about I start cleaning the closet and bathroom and I open us a bottle of wine?" I WANT TO SAY "I DO" ALL OVER AGAIN. <3 <3 <3
Just thought I'd get that out of the way. :D It's been a nice one, quiet, had a good lunch with my dad, dinner tonight with the Mr. and not a stitch of cleaning will be done by me. Miss Emily turned 10 yesterday and I am officially out of babies. I even had to buy training bras this weekend. WAH, STOP GROWING.

The kids are having grandparent time starting Wednesday, so I have my house all to myself until SATURDAY. I might just pass out from excitement, I'm not even joking. I am going to be getting up to all sorts of shenanigans, just you watch. I might not even make my bed you guys, I just don't know how this fun fest is going to play itself out. Start saving bail money.

I'm going to take a break (I've been working all morning on the site, etc., because I'm a good do-bee) and shoot some Orcs in the face with bows and arrows for a bit because it's too hot to be outside. Again. Eh, that's August. Also, there is nothing more banal than someone dithering on about the weather, so I'll shaddup.

MEANWHILE, if you need something to read, we've got Planet of the Apes, Spartacus Blood and Sand 1.5, True Blood 4.7, and RHoNJ 3.12 for you! Tomorrow is Hoarders & Breaking Bad. Good stuff, folks, good stuff. (I'm most excited for Jersey Shore, won't lie. OH, and the Glee recaps will start back up this week, I def. needed last week off what with the site crashing every five minutes. Oy.)

ALSO I THINK I SHALL EATS SOME CAKES. I like making a cake for my daughter the day before - leftover cake is just enough. :)

OH!! AND I HAVE NOT WATCHED TRUE BLOOD. Please, no spoilers. 10-Q!
The Mr. was gone most of last week and all of the weekend on a golfing trip, and his flight was delayed last night by a few hours. Enough for him to slip into Dreamland in Birmingham, grab some ribs, and carry them home on the plane for me. Awww. Also, OM NOM NOM, best ribs in the world, hands down.

I'm way behind on everything I meant to do today, from staying up way too late last night. Ugh, I hate sleeping in to the point of missing a large portion of the morning, I'm a "get it done early" type of person. I'm in the middle of canning (round two, there will be a round three in a few weeks) and for those of you that put up food, you know how it can be. I have 12 quarts of tomato sauce done, and another 6 qts. to go, did 6 qts. of strawberry preserves on Friday, and I think I'm done with them. That's enough, my lands. Because peaches are coming in. *head desk* But it's nice to have that stuff in the fall and winter, right?

RIGHT?? *cries* I started making an "Apocalypse Survival" checklist Friday night, after a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] kita0610 in her LJ. I don't mean to brag (hahaha) but I'm totally ready to make it. I just need to dig a series of underground caves, and my progeny will live until the zombies have all died out/been blown apart. And remember: robot wars/rise of the machines is the simplest Armageddon's to fight: MAGNETS. That's all you need to know.

Oh, and because my girls rock, [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue has last night's AWESOME True Blood recap up and ready, and [livejournal.com profile] elizardbits has her latest amazingly funny Spartacus recap up (blood and sand) and I've just posted the recap for the Jersey housewives. Oh my god, the food those people make! I wanna go for a holiday at the Manzos.

So get clicking over there, hit the "Like" buttons and the Google+ buttons and leave comments and be your typical fabulous selves. :)

OK, son is off to the oral surgeon in a bit, I've got to start canning tomatoes, and I would really like a personal assistant, thanks. GAH, TOO MUCH.
Because that's what I've been eating almost all weekend. Mmmm, avocados. Fresh tomatoes, garlic from the garden... And I made some baked taquitos that are so good, oh man. We were celebrating the Mr's promotion this weekend by being lazy slugs and eating. <-- THE AMERICAN DREAM.

[livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue had some problems last night (nothing to worry about, just time consuming, etc.) that is going to keep her from putting up her True Blood recap until this evening. But trust me when I say you're going to want to read it, if only for her take on the ridiculous Hot Shot happenings. Not to mention Vienna Sausage appe-teasers.

BUT! Fear not, those of you with the Mondays. [livejournal.com profile] elizardbits is back with Spartacus! Read the Blood & Sand recap here.

And the Real Housewives of New Jersey recap is now online, here you are. (Oh my god, the sparkle suit on that gorilla.) Kim G returns. She is SO AWFUL. I love watching her awfulness, I won't lie.

Tonight is Hoarders, and I've already begun my home cleanse in preparation.

For those that might want to try my baked taquitos, the recipe is under the cut. This way to OmNomVille. )

I still have some leftovers, so instead of teaching the kids how to cook tonight, we're going to make cookies. Tomorrow we're making Indian food, because I want some palak paneer (paneer is fun to make) and some naan and dal. YUM.

It is a million degrees out, so I'm waiting for it to be a reasonable hour for me to have a margarita and float in the pool with it. I say 4 is a good time. Right? Hmm. (Hahaha, I sound like a lush.)

Speaking of being a lush, those of you that have been following my Glee recaps have gotten some pretty boss cocktail recipes. I made the Friday cocktail (The Dirty Hippie) a few times this weekend. Tie dyed cocktails that taste good? OK. I changed up the way you can search on the main page - the shows/movies/books are clearly listed at the top with hyperlinks. Hopefully that looks far less cluttered.
First, Jersey Housewives. There were c*ck rings in last night's ep. There were offers to taste nuts. There were beautiful firearms. (Hey, it's a Henry Repeater, they're works of art.) Lol. Also, the saddest dance recital ever witnessed by humans happened. I JUST. GUYS. There was much flailing last night. RHoNJ RECAP IS HERE, you need this in your life, I believe.

Last night's True Blood. Uh. spoilers, obv )

Sue's recap of hilariousness will be up later today (she has a baby to feed and such, it takes a bit) but in the meantime is RIGHT HERE, she has Seasons 1, 2, and 3 condensed into some of the funnier things you'll read today. It's Monday, you know you need a laugh.

Tonight is Hoarders, zomg. O_O

Highlight from my weekend: my sister, swimming in my pool with the kids, getting into the whitest rap battle ever. No matter what anyone would say, you had to do that "OOOOHHHHHH!" hand over your mouth/you just got served! thing. It doesn't take much to please me. But she's funny and a delight and I like it when she comes over. <3

MONDAY. No summer camps this week. HOORAYS.

[ETA] OH HEY, SAM WROTE A RECAP OF THE HUNGER GAMES and she's awesome so you should read it.
CAPERS! Love 'em. Eat 'em. Put 'em on shit. Then... eat them. I highly recommend their salty, sour goodness.
SLEEPING! At least 7 hours a night! Which I did not get last night because I was up too late reading
THIS FIC! [livejournal.com profile] skintightsocks A Kurt/Blaine NC-17 first time, first summer with a boyfriend, trying to sneak around your parents tale. So good. So funny. So ridiculously hot. What is happening to me!? Complete, 3 parts, all linked (thank you, authors!)
MALAPROPISM RAPS! Okay, that's a shameless pimp, but I am having a lot of fun with the Real Housewives of New Jersey and their horrendous vocabulary. Worth ethnic, people. Worth ethnic.
[livejournal.com profile] mary_flanner has another fabulous fic in the works, but there are three parts left to go, so once it's all posted I'll share to keep you from the pain I'm feeling. (Really, everything she writes is excellent. One of the best fanfic writers I've come across, ever. <-- high praise, given who I've read over the years. I do wish she had a better homynym beta reader, though. I notice them - like, two in five stories, it's not a big deal - because I do that a lot. Alot. <-- not actually a homynym)
CAMPS! Put your kids in them! Wear them out! Watch them excell! Pay through the nose! Wait, that last part sucks.
CHOCOLATE! I need some right this minute, preferably in the form of chocolate chip cookies. To the kitchen I fly!

Wait, a quick poll for you! )
Real Housewives of New Jersey started back up this week!! We got a new cable system, so I haven't plugged back in all of my "to be DVRd" shows. Caught it last night, HOLY CRAP. There is some seriously awesome crazy, not the icky crazy of the Danielle days.

Teresa's sister in law is a slutty pro-God mommy, and it's fantastic. I'm calling her Jesus Spice because she apparently moonlights in a GIRL BAND. It's like the universe knew I needed this. Thank you, universe.

Obv. I'm recapping it. :D

So much good TV on tonight, and Happy Endings cracked me up last night. "Let's down these M. Light Shamalans and get going!" (Michelob Light. ahahaha.) I love that they all talk like they're funny people, not people just saying one-liners. I'm digging it.
