When you save a life, you get to take a life, right? I'm going to look for a clown hooker, if that's the case. Wanna read all about the life I saved? It's only a bird's life, if that helps you manage your time better. Which tells me you hate birds. Mm hm. )

I get to spend the day with my sister [livejournal.com profile] dampersnspoons and we're going to check out cool thrift shops and eat and there will be laughing and joy. Hump Day, folks! The weekend is practically upon us.

If you need something hilarious and great to read, you should read Sam's recap of the movie Thor at Hey, Don't Judge Me. That's another movie I want to see, it's getting good reviews from friends.

Grab Bag.

Got my first mini-sun burn this weekend while putting in the garden. YAY WARMTH. Except for how my shoulders are a little ouchie. I always forget to hit my shoulder blades with the sun screen. One day that skin will turn into a pair of leathery angel wings and my dream of becoming the embodiment of an Affliction t-shirt will come true.

Had a film showing at the Dallas International Film Festival on Saturday night, it was sold out, there was a line around the block, and the audience really seemed to love it. Great! Keep your eyes peeled for Wuss at a festival near you, it's Fest season and it's picking up steam. A short film I'm really proud of has it's world premiere on Wednesday, written by and starring my brother in law and featuring yours truly, Narcissism & Me (only one person has gotten the joke so far, which is disappointing) and you can check out the trailer here. It's dark and hilarious, and I can't wait to see it with an audience. I'll post festival dates for that, and the shorts that have been showing so far have all been stellar. If you've never been to a Shorts Festival, you're missing out.

Tried to watch Mildred Pierce on HBO, and without going into any real spoilers, I'll just say that it was the most tedious hour and change of television I've had to endure in a long time. Didn't finish, didn't care to. Dreary, petulant characters with trumped up drama that just doesn't stand the test of time. Oh, noes, poor divorced woman has to (gasp!) wait tables!? It's hard and we should feel bad for her not being able to carry more than one plate on her body and her job is embarrassing to her bratty shit of a daughter? Wah. Good hell, how pathetic. If you're into the show, alrighty, I thought it was absolutely ridiculous, overly dramatic, scenes were too long, the acting was over the top in places. I expect more from Kate Winslet and HBO, I'm just saying.

I need to get some trail shoes this week because on Friday (here's the antidote to the ear worm that may or may not have popped up in your head at that word, also, creepy video of Friday is CREEPY) [livejournal.com profile] dovil gets in town all the way from New Zealand! WOO and a HOO. She'll be shown the delights of North Texas (read: shopping, eating, drinking) and then we head out on Monday to hit the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and then a weekend of debauchery in Las Vegas with [livejournal.com profile] marenfic. We've been planning this trip for a year now, and I swear to god, if she screws this up for me, I am going to straight up murder her ass and leave her in the desert. Ahahaha. It's funny because it's inevitable.

HI GUYS IT IS MONDAY AND WINDY OUT AND I HATE THE WIND. Which means I will be goofing around indoors. How are you? *chin fists*

  • I broke my thick solid iron trowel yesterday. Holy crap. Like, in half. That's what I get for trying to sword fight with a garden trowel, I suppose.

  • Today TNT is running a Season 2 marathon of SouthLAnd - I highly recommend watching it. Tonight is the season finale, btw, and according to Mike Cudlitz's twitter (don't judge me) TNT is renewing for Season 3 WHOO and a HOO! So. If you were on the fence about that show because you were afraid of it being cancelled, worry no more.

  • (Also: for anyone that might want to comment with why they don't think it's the greatest show since sliced bread, SAVE IT. I don't care. I'm not interested in debating why you think The Wire or My little Ponies is better, or whatever. I like this show. Share the love or scroll.)

  • Tonight is round 2 of Dallas' Story Slam and the theme is "Mistakes." Gah. Not much different than last months, imo. I'm not really sure what story I'm going to tell, but the owner is demanding that I show up, so I need to think of something and fast. If you're in DFW, you should come and tell a story of your own (or listen to the others. And laugh at my jokes.)

  • I'm off to the garden center to buy a new trowel and probably come home with some peonies and other plants because I have a sickness and then work work work

  • I have bad(great!)fic to share, but no time, no time, I'm late I'm late I'm late!

  • We have a WIND ADVISORY today. I swear, one of these days science will catch up with my rage and I'll be able to punch wind gusts that exceed 20mph in the nut sack. Winds over 35mph will be shot in the face.

  • Lastly, I'm not too spammy, but if you're interested in my 140 characters of attempted jokes, I'm "StoneyboBoney" on Twitter. Oy. It's never ending...

[redacted info]
I'm filming the DVD commentary this weekend with the rest of the cast and they're shooting some extras that will be hilarious, so the US DVD release will have all sorts of bonus materials. (Including a 2 minute gaffe on my part where I just make sex noises while they wait for me to say my line. LOL.)

I'm off to another audition today (man, I'm busy - THANK YOU, LINDA and JESSE) for another kid product. Same casting agency. I guess they like my rapport with kids? Little do they know I have a side paneled van and a basket of kittens... Let's all go to Pleasure Island! Then it's off to the salt mines, whee!

Lastly, we've had stady 30mph winds. They've returned to torture me. I'm tempted to plant my own damn wind break in front of my house, HOA be damned. How can I sit and enjoy my garden when the wind is filled with douchebaggery??

Lastlylastly, (*g*) my MiL is coming over on Easter Sunday. We've not seen her in a few months due to her cancer/chemo. Let's hope she'll be lovely and not passive-aggressive, because I really don't want to have to be sharp with a sick woman. BUT I WILL BE, IF I HAVE TO. Maybe I can ply her with sweets and send her to Pleasure Island with the little children

Lastlylastlyforthelasttimenoreally, I finally signed up on Twitter, but only so I can follow Mike Cudlitz, Will Wheaton, Simon Pegg and Joel McHale. DO NOT JUDGE ME. If you want to add me, or whatever, I'm StoneyboBoney because I'm super clever with the names.

[ETA] And y'all know I have ADHD, yes? Come on, it's a miracle I get dressed every day. Here's a report from Comicpalooza about BotH and the sf movie I (briefly) appear in, and one of my filthy lines from BotH got a shout out as the reviewer's favorite. AHAHAHAHA.

Bah.

Grumpy grumpy grumpy today. The Mr. left for a week long trip, starting off a 10 month-long project of weekly travel. He also woke me by giving me a rundown of what was wrong with everyone [the boy woke up late, there wasn't any bread - I went to the store yesterday, called and ASKED IF I NEEDED TO GET ANYTHING, the dogs puked on the rug, gah], and I had 10 minutes to solve everything before running The Boy to early morning practice. Before coffee. Which, notice that none was made by the person who had been up for an hour. Now, I ask you! Come on, dude. *head desk*

Then, I had a doctor's appointment where - you know what? It set me off so much that I'm not even going to repeat it. Suffice it to say that she said something jerky, I called her on it, and hopefully that learned her up some. I don't need to infect anyone else with that grumpiness.

My pants are tight, I'm on my monthlies, my floor needs mopping, my hair is frizzed, and I'm completely surrounded by a lack of chocolate. :( I feel like stomping around the house and making angry faces. I think I'll do that until the dogs start sniffing their butts and giving me looks, which should chasten me and put me to rights. Or my cat will turn her back to me until I get with the program. It's hard to stay mad for long when you have a fluffy cat that is trying to teach you a lesson.

....

It is sunny and beautiful outside, maybe I should go out there with a book and just forget getting anything else done today... If anyone could find a way to airlift some brownies my way (or nachos, I'm not picky) that would be super fantastic.

this post brought to you by my goal to do NaNo this year and realizing that my last year's project was my book and I've stopped submitting it and I hate trying to write because I suck at it. GAAAAAAAAAH.

That's it.

i am NOT going out in this kind of wind any more. No, really. I had to stop THREE TIMES to catch my breath and keep my gorge down, I was working so hard just to keep moving. I've been hitting a solid 9 minute mile (walking) and today that was shot to hell. Well, about 10 minute miles today. Nonetheless, I came back cranky and fussy and starving so I just polished off a homemade McMuffin (two egg whites, slice of cheese, toasted whole wheat English muffin, mmmm) and washed it down with some cold apple juice and I'm starting to feel less homicidal. But seriously, yoga, squats, sit ups, napping, Olympic level channel flipping... all to be done in my house and all not out in the horrid wind. You may have gotten the best of me today, wind, but I'll harness you to bend to my will yet!!

I need to figure out what to cook for Zombie!Jesus day, and everything must have a reanimated theme. Twice-cooked potatoes would work, rare lamb... Hmm. Feel free to link me to any and all zombie-themed recipes you may have. :D

Speaking of, I link to this next thing every year, but this year I'm re-working the lyrics slightly and posting it under the cut. Easter! A Parody song song to the tune of Thriller! )

I'm making pumpkin muffins today even though what I WANT is chocolate. I am completely surrounded by a lack of chocolate, however. WTH? I should buy up all the leftover Easter candy on Monday....
I have mentioned that I hate the wind, yes? Because I do. Like, mortal enemy hatred. Why do I live on the black land prairie again? 45 mph gusts, steady wind of 25 mph. 8 miles today, and I'm worn the hell out from being beaten around by that dastardly wind. And I don't know how it manages it, but I left the house in one direction, came back in another, and was STILL facing the wind. What?? Ocean breezes? Mountain zephyr? I'm good with those. Swirling, abusive, leaf-filled, bird-knocking, shirt blowing up type winds are on my black list.

I'm sure I looked the fool stomping about with a snot-covered face, grimacing at the four miles left to go. :|

In happy news, though, I am going for proper Dim Sum this afternoon with an old friend that I let go by the wayside. (Old timers here: my $60 candle/Type-A friend.) Then there will be shopping for supplies at the Asian Market (I need proper jasmine rice, white soy, miso powder, etc. etc.) Spring weather makes me want light Malaysian/Thai/Japanese foods all the live long day. Mmmm, like that sweet vinegar cucumber salad stuff with little bits of crab and shrimp? MMMMMM I love sunomono! Or hijiki with carrots. OM NOM NOM I love you food, get in mah belleh!

I'm going to make that chai spice cake for Zombie Jesus Day this weekend, I think. I may not celebrate the worship of the second zombie risen (hahahaha, I'm so blasphemous) but I sure like all the trappings like chocolates, devilled eggs, and spring treats in buffet form. Okay, I need to shower and untangle my hair. Yeesh.
