Remember that group? *cough* HEY WHO WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THE WALKING DEAD FINALE WITH ME? Because you should click that and chat away. The comments have been really lively with good discussion lately.

[livejournal.com profile] mrmonkeybottoms is back with the Buffy Rewatch, and Prophecy Girl is up. Holy smokes, it's been a LONG TIME since that aired. Wow, I feel old.

I haven't had lunch. I'm super hungry I have leftover curry hidden away that is calling to me.

ION, I stayed up way too late last night, unable to shut my brain off, which is sometimes a good thing because I have stories I want to write (yay!), but MAYBE NOT AT 2 AM.

There is no Teen Wolf tonight. Huh. Looks like I'm rewatching Pride & Prejudice for reasons. /cryptic LOL

SOMEONE COME MAKE ME FOOD SO I CAN LAY ON THE FLOOR AND NOT MOVE.

  • [livejournal.com profile] mrmonkeybottoms' rewatch/recap of Buffy continues with episode 2: The Harvest. Aww, classic Buffy with a classic Buffy fan. GOOD TIMES.

  • Melody's recap of Breaking Bad's finale is up, and I just really want more Breaking Bad people to talk to about this show.

  • I spent all weekend catching up from where I'd left off so I could watch the finale before spoilers were everywhere. That show is AMAZING in giant chunks. You can really see how tight the writing is.

  • Sleepy Hollow should be up soon, so in the meantime, feel free to catch up on the previous episode recaps!

  • I just made a fancy sandwich containing: thinly sliced marinated flank steak, caramelized onions, a schmear of brown mustard, and humbolt Fog on homemade bread. YEAH. IT WAS AS DELICIOUS AS IT SOUNDS.

  • The Mr. is out of town all week (after being gone all weekend) and wow, I am getting spoiled on having all the pillows with which to starfish-sleep. IT IS A DELIGHT.

  • I have spent three hours today looking up flight suit patterns that are close to what I want the end result to be for my Halloween costume (not saying what it is!) and realize that I might have to make a pattern myself. Bah.

(I thought I posted this three hours ago. WHOOPS.)
My lovely sister hosts an awards site for Buffy/AtS fen, the [livejournal.com profile] c2c_buffyawards . Round 2 is still open for nominations, and you should go on over because this ain't yo daddy's award site [and we know this because I JUST TOLD YOU that it's my sister's site. Really, guys, pay attention.]

I like how she's got the rules set up, it's not about the popular person or who can bully their flist into voting multiple times, it's about quality, hooray! Good stuff. It's been some time since I've written any fanfic, and this makes me want to go back and reread some of the good stuff y'all have put out there. Aww, fanfiction is what led me here, MEMORIES. *chin on fists*

Two! Yesterday's snitfest re: current events led me to sitting in a coffee shop and writing for two straight hours, something I've not done in AGES. (Working on my book, for those who are interested.) I know we're not supposed to do this in polite society, but DAMMIT I AM FUNNY. I'm trying my hardest to not make it an angry screed about being betrayed by my religion (even though that's what happened) and the jokes/humor I'm putting in there? Well, it's GOLD PEOPLE. Gold. (No one else is going to build me up, so I have to do it myself, lol.

Fake Bible Books I'm "quoting" from: Levijeanology and Hysterectomy II. Okay, that's more brass than gold, but there's good stuff in there, honest!

Speaking of awesome writing (weren't we?) my good buddy Melissa Francis wrote a wonderful YA book last year, "Bite Me" about a girl with a vampire boyfriend. OH AND IT'S AWESOME AND NOT LIKE TWILIGHT AT ALL. And the sequel "Love Sucks" JUST CAME OUT! (And my daughter got a copy early and is truly the envy of her friends. Here's a picture of her opening the package from Melissa, not realizing she got an advanced copy ) So you should go buy a copy of it, because we're awesomely supportive of fellow writers on LJ, aren't we? Congrats on the sequel, [livejournal.com profile] oatmellow! (Her LJ handle.) She's on a book tour right now, which, HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! Seriously awesome, that's how.

Ok. I'm getting back to writing, because this is a RARE THING, me actually doing it and not fifty million other things. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS? (Also, AUGH, IT'S GOING VIRAL! Must write faster!! And of course I had to comment.)
Here's my entry for the [livejournal.com profile] lynnevitational, coming just under the wire. General disclaimer: I make no money from this, all for a lark, la la la.

Title: Three Hundred Sixty-Six Degrees
Author: Stoney
Fandom/Pairing Spike/Dru pre-BtvS thru Spike solo in A:tS, Not Fade Away
Rating: Mature audience due to language and vampire feeding habits and casual drug use
Summary: Spike and Dru unwittingly inspire some of the great poets/musicians as they flit and feed throughout the last half of the 19th Century.
A/N: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] lynnevitational with terrific beta work by [livejournal.com profile] sunnyd_lite and [livejournal.com profile] moosesal and musical reminders (Like Pete Townshend's penchant for fighting) from my sister, Beth. It would be kickass if anyone could catch all the references.

It was Drusilla who first came up with the idea of collecting poets... )
Do you think it's possible that Joss knew enough of gang/drug culture to have the "Strawberry" reference for Willow be the dope man's Strawberry? Because I'm thinking that little, pudgy white boy knew what he was doing.

And if you ask yourself, "Did Stoney just listen to 'Dope Man' by N.W.A.?" then give yourself fifteen points for mind reading and fifty points for your old school gangsta rap knowledge.

Yo, Mr. Dope Man you think you're slick
You gave my sister drugs and now she's sick
And if she dies because of your drugs
I'm putting in your quto a .38 slug.

The lyrics in question - naughty. But you got that from it being am N.W.A song, yes? )

In other news, we entertained Mr. [livejournal.com profile] marenfic last night as he wrapped up a business conference, and my kids officially declared him to be a "very nice man." They all played Guitar Hero until bedtime. *cough* I won't say publicly whether or not my children kicked his ass or not. Or that my six year old plays with only a thumb on the keys (her hands are too small to hold the controller) and she played on Medium. And did better than the Mr. I won't say that. :D
I got my sister and her man into Buffy. "It's really funny, Laura!" I know! "It's really awesome!" I know!! "Willow and Xander's relationship hits home!" I KNOW!!! (She's just about to finish Season 1. I've already told her that she's not seen a FRACTION of the awesome.) "I combed his hair!!" <-- her comment about how awesome and cute Nicholas Brendon is. (I would like to remind you all that I adjusted his inseam. I thank you.)

But I get off track, when I want to know the following: She would be interested in your recs for good Buffy/Giles/Willow fic or permutations of those 3. The good stuff, people. And she's not afraid of IN CHARACTER AU. (No OOC unrecognizable except by the vanilla scent fic, please.)

Remember in Ghostbusters when they get their first client and Annie Potts slams her hand on a buzzer screaming, "WE GOT ONE!!!" That's how I feel. :D

In conclusion, thank you for the recs! (I'm heading out the door for dr's appts, etc. for those who would be emailing, etc., and you know who you are. *G*)

[ETA] I forgot!!! THIS SITE is the coolest thing EVER: a video tutorial for all manner of crochet stitches. Since I'm a self-taught crocheter, I didn't know how to do some of the fancier stitches (or how to add on a new skein without tying knots. I KNOW. But now I do.) Free patterns, too! So. Awesome. Nerd alert over! :D
If you look at your calendar, then you'll miss seeing mine. MY calendar has indicated that it is less than 2 weeks and 4 days until I fly to San Fransisco and meet [livejournal.com profile] dovil!! WOOT! My liver is primed, woman. *does stretching exercises so I'm taller, packs stool* We're also meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] _divya_ to talk shop, including, but not limited to: due South, hot men, things that are funny, potent potables, and things that start with an M. Cannot. Calm. Down. Okay, that's a gross exaggeration. But I'm excited. Just look at Spock down there!! He is perfectly expressing my hyperactivity.

Re: trip. There WILL be pictures.

In other news, I'm still lame and only skimming my flist. Working on it! Trying to be a better friend, jeez, Ma! Oh, and I haven't heard (or seen about the joint) [livejournal.com profile] leeannaray or [livejournal.com profile] dusty273 in a while... You girls fine? Just super busy? Bored with LJ? Making sure you're okay, is all...

Had The Mayor and Faith on the brain. Talked with [livejournal.com profile] winterlive (okay, no more name dropping. [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue. Sorry, it's in my contract) last night about Veronica Mars, and was thinking about how Keith and VM are the second best Daddy/Daughter duo on TV ever. Behind: Mayor/Faith, of course. A little slice o' life, shortly after Faith joins forces officially. Very short. Just about a double-drabble.

I cut because I feel rage inside and need to let it out )

And finally, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] trepkos and today to [livejournal.com profile] versaphile! *pours a drink, hands you a flower, rubs shoulders*

[ETA]: WHY IS THERE A LINE THROUGH WINTER'S USERNAME????? I JUST talked with her last night!! WINTER! Noooooo! I'm actually quite stupid. -LIVE. WinterLIVE. *lays down*
I missed two birthdays!! SO SO sorry, to my new friend and funny-girl [livejournal.com profile] sweet_ali and to sooper keyoot buddy who is getting ready to travel,[livejournal.com profile] marlo! Happiest of days, I hope they were wonderful, and I am terribly sorry these wishes are so belated. *hangs head in SHAME, yo* And today is [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup's b-day! Happy birthday!! You share my love of good music and Deadwood, and I hope your day is great.

[ETA]: I got a package in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] _divya_!! Due South! OMG. My hed asplode from the loving of new fandoms. AHHHH!! thank you so much, Di!! Will report on the love for them.

*cough* In other... things... remember when I mentioned things I believe? And one of those was that I believe without a doubt that when Faith heard about Joyce's death, that she-. Well, now I'm getting ahead of myself.

Fic: Lights-Out, Faith, PG-13 )
But only because it was an ASSIGNMENT. This journal will revert to baddirtywrongness later. But for now....

Written for the MOPEathon, headed by [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue and [livejournal.com profile] brandil

Xander: Character Study/GEN fic
Setting: Post "Lover's Walk," or Cordelia's discovery of Willow and Xander's make-out session.
Song: Ray Charles', 'I'm Busted' and it WAS on an album with some of his country stuff, so gimmie a break. :-D

Yes, Please Tell Me About YOUR Bad Day. )
This is an experiment, but I will see it through with a new chapter everyday until all 12 parts are posted.

Pairing: Cecily/William (Spike)/Drusilla
Rating: PG-13 for some snits and I'm not sure...
Summary: Ever wonder what made Cecily leave her Victorian life to become Halfrek? Heh heh heh...

The 12 Gifts of Christmas From Someone Beneath Me... )
It finally happened, but it's because it's [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue's request. I had to make a 2CD compilation. She wanted Spander. I made this with her fic in mind. Keep in mind (those of you who are die-hard Spander shippers) that this is MY interpretation of what I see in that 'ship. It's filled with the funny, angst, the snark, the hot, but ultimately I think it's a doomed ship. Doesn't mean I don't like reading fluffy, this project is just my current frame of mind. Enjoy!

SPANDER PLAYLIST )
[livejournal.com profile] dusty273 you are up next! Thanks for sending me your mailing address. [livejournal.com profile] ropo, in case you're out of pocket this weekend, email me your snail mail addy so I can shoot yours out first thing. I'm doing two at a time now.
I am listening to the CD I just burned for my first project, [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight's request for Fred, interpeted through music. I am going to toot my own here, mm'kay? TOOOT!

[livejournal.com profile] violethamster wanted me to post the play list and the whys so let's get started. (BTW: I am keeping a copy of all of the CDs if later on someone wants an additional CD to their booty.)
